JAG Discovery race

Last Thursday Mighty Meters kids from Arcadia, Nerina, Rosewood, Boundary and Easter peak primary school did the JAG Discovery Race. A six kilometre race through the beautiful hills of Blaauwberg National Park.

The course went straight through Kleinberg and Blaauwberg hill. On every kilometre there was a puzzle that had to be resolved in order to pass to the next checkpoint. The kids were real sports and had a explosive start. After a few minutes the first kids already arrived at the first puzzle on top of kleinberg. The kids got to see a puzzle for a few seconds and when the time was up they had to remake the puzzle. When finished the kids had to run down Kleinberg hill and go towards Blaauwberg. Through loose sand the kids just kept on going. And some kids were already near Blaauwberg Hill when others were still on Kleinberg. It was difficult to see but Nerina Primary School was doing good business becoming first.
When the kids arrived at the thirth station they had to through balls at cans and when all the cans fall they could pass. After a short water stop the kids had a steep upwards run to the top. Halfway was the second last station. This station had 5 animal spoors and the kids had to found out which spoor belonged to the wright animal. So after finishing this puzzle the kids where near the finish on top of the hill. The last objective was to run together with a rope to the top of the hill and finish together.

We had a wonderful time and we want to give a special thanks to the people of the Environmental Department. Also congratulations to Nerina Primary School with their first place. You guys did great!

The Clanwilliam weekend

In the first weekend of october the JAG Foundation entered the Freshpak Rooibos Fitness Festival at Clanwilliam. For many of the athletes it was their first camping trip and they were all looking forward to it.

The nine JAG athletes started saturday morning at the FitKids. This is an 1km run, 200m swim and it ends with another 1km run. This race was a good challenge the JAG Athletes. They were well prepared. The JAG athletes were motivated and exciting and all of them wanted to succeed.

After a tough race the kids finished and were proud that they achieved another goal in their life. Many of them now want to participate in more of these races and represent the JAG Foundation.

On Saturday 17 September 2011, we had our first "IAAF Kids athletics competition" between our Mighty Metres primary schools.
Each team came with their own schools athletics gear, full of confidence and excitement to represent their school. The atmosphere were amazing to see how they support each other

during the events. They even challenge each other in songs and that aslo motivate their teams more to do well.

The Kids athletics sport is one of the best development sport and it is very competitive. The kids had so much fun, they enjoy every moment.

To see the smiles on the kids faces made me very happy...

Parents join in Holiday Sporting Fun

Come out and play!

We recently held two holiday sports festivals. One in Bonteheuwel and one in Macassar. The kids got the oppurtunity to play TAG Rugby, Soccer, Cricket, ride bikes and do kids athletics. After the first day in Bonteheuwel the parents realised that there was something great happening for their kids and on the second day they turned out in large numbers, bringing all the kids, cousins and grandkids in tow.

In Macassar it was pouring with rain most of the time, but this did not stop the kids who were eager to play play play. The bikes were extra popular and no amount of rain was going to stop these kids.

Thank you to Fair Cape for keeping the kids tummys full with yoghurt.
